Stadium Journey Issued Yellow Card
In sports, mistakes happen. Players commit errors and penalties are called. We celebrate when an opponent messes up and curse when it happens to our team. The randomness of sport, where a player can go from hero to goat and vice versa in an instant is one of the factors that make it so great.
But it’s not so great when it you are the one making the mistake. This week Stadium Journey released our rankings of the 23 Major League Soccer stadiums. Unfortunately, we only included 22 of them. Omitted from our list was Banc of California Stadium, the brand new home of Los Angeles FC.
The stadium, which opened this season to rave reviews, is the first open-air professional venue to open in the city of Los Angeles since Dodger Stadium in 1962. Stadium Journey California Correspondent Andrei Ojeda visited Banc of California Stadium this season and described the atmosphere in his review:
”One word…LOUD. From the moment you step inside L.A.’s newest outdoor sports venue, the atmosphere is at a fevered pitch as throughout the stadium. Fans are chanting and yelling long before the match begins. The crowd is a great mix of diehards and fans new to the sport, led by the 3252’s, LAFC’s Independent Supporters Union. From the pregame tailgates to the ninetieth minute, the passion runs non-stop as the fans show their never-ending passion throughout the match.”
Banc of California Stadium ranked seventh in our ratings of the Major League Soccer venues. You can find our complete rankings of MLS facilities here, and our review of Banc of California Stadium here.
Once again, we offer our sincerest apologies to the Los Angeles FC and their fans.
