Monday Racing Returns to Lime Rock
The Pirelli World Challenge race weekend at Lime Rock Park will include a return to racing tradition in 2018 with the weekend expanding to Monday racing at the speedway on Memorial Day. The historic race track in Connecticut will offer on-track action on Friday, Saturday, and Monday this Memorial Day, bringing back a tradition that has been absent since 2011.
“The return of Monday races during the Pirelli World Challenge brings back the long-held tradition during Lime Rock Park’s season opener,” said Skip Barber, Owner and President of Lime Rock Park. “This allows racing fans to enjoy a broad variety of events, including two days of racing and a car show on Sunday.”
Practice and qualifying will take up the majority of Friday’s race action, while races will take place Saturday and Monday. Sunday will feature the traditional car show at Lime Rock Park that has become a staple of the track’s race weekend activities for fans.
“Whether camping here within the track’s infield for the full experience or just bringing the family for a day of fun, there’s no better place to celebrate Memorial Day than Lime Rock Park,” Barber said of the race weekend.
The track also intends to honor servicemen and women on Memorial Day wekend with free general admission for veterans and active military and their immediate families for all spectator events throughout the weekend. All fans 16 and under are also free and general parking and paddock access are free during the race.
