Farewell to the Dell

The PGA tour season concludes with the FedEx Cup, a four tournament finale that culminates with one golfer walking away with ten million dollars. The second leg of the FedEx Cup has traditionally been played at TPC Boston. The Dell Technologies has been the sponsor of the tournament for the last two years. However, starting in 2019 the Dell Technologies Championship will be no more. The new FedEx Cup alignment will shift the first event, the Northern Trust, between TPC Boston and New Jersey.  TPC Boston will host the Northern Trust in 2020, so New England will still be a host in the FedEx Cup.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about the final Dell Technologies Championship. TPC Boston is actually located in Norton, MA. It is pretty easy to get to the course, which is located just off of I-495. Once inside it was a very easy to navigate course. There are many volunteers who can help you should you get lost.

A cool thing that was done for this tournament was that there were several Fan Journeys. Fans could follow specific routes to see and experience different things around the course. There were journeys for golf fanatics, foodies and socialites to name a few. There was a large amount of food offerings at TPC Boston. Burgers, hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn were available, as well as specialty items. Ruth’s Chris offered steak sandwiches and shrimp cocktails and the Whoopie Wagon offered up gourmet whoopie pies. There were also food trucks offering up pizzas and lobster rolls. In addition to the food, there was a wide assortment of beverage options around the course.

This tournament had something for everyone. If fans wanted to come out and casually watch a couple of holes while enjoying some great food, they could do that. If you wanted to follow one group around the course for the entire round, there was ample room to navigate and follow the group. There are corporate suites and luxury tents all around the course with plenty of food and drink as well. The views and atmosphere were top notch. Simply put, TPC Boston is a great place to take in a golf tournament. It’s too bad that the Dell Technologies Championship will be retired, but the Northern Trust will be back at TPC Boston in 2020. When that comes around it’s definitely worth checking out.
