After several months of rumors and much anticipation, the growing city of Halifax, Nova Scotia will be home to another professional sports franchise. The National Lacrosse League (NLL) recently announced the Rochester Knighthawks will relocate to the Maritime region commencing the 2019-2020 season. “Known as a great events city with a passionate, loyal, and hungry fan base for major league sports, Halifax proved to be an ideal location for our league’s expansion in Canada,” explained NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz.
In press conferences today, the National Lacrosse League announced that Halifax, NS is gaining a franchise and that a new expansion franchise will be forming in Rochester, NY.
The year 2017 was an extremely important year for Major League Lacrosse. It was in 2017 that the league took a major step forward, into uncharted territory. The Village of Obetz, south of Columbus, Ohio and the MLL franchise, the Ohio Machine would partner on the first ever field lacrosse first venue that a MLL franchise would call home.
