In between Washington, DC and Gettysburg, PA sits the second oldest Catholic university in America. Mount St. Mary’s sits on 1,400 acres at the base of the Catoctin Mountains. Shockingly the sports teams at university use the Mountaineers moniker.
The Johns Hopkins University has one of the most storied programs in the sport of college lacrosse. The team was founded in 1883 and has won 44 national championships including nine NCAA Division I titles (1974, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1985, 1987, 2005, and 2007), 29 USILL/USILA titles, and six Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association titles.
Vert Stadium has consistently been ranked as one of the best track & field, soccer, and lacrosse facilities in the country and the venue lives up to that standard each and every game day. Reopened in 2007, “The Vert” has been a big draw for High Point University, serving primarily as the permanent home of HPU’s lacrosse and soccer programs.

Even though the calendar says today is April Fools’ Day, Major League Lacrosse wasn’t kidding around, as it announced that three of the league’s nine teams are folding.
Sports teams at the college are known as the Bullets and there are 24 NCAA Division III men’s and women’s teams. The Gettysburg College women’s lacrosse team won the Division III National Championship in 2011. The Bullets play in the Centennial Conference.
