Indianapolis finally has a wonderful facility to house minor league hockey. In fact, this city could even be an American Hockey League (AHL) town. The coliseum has all the comforts, seating, and amenities one would desire at their professional facilities.
The home of the ECHL’s Florida Everblades has a new name; Hertz has purchased the naming rights to what will now be called Hertz Arena. The deal changes the name of what was most recently called Germain Arena effective last week. Hertz its headquartered in Estero, Florida.

The idea of hockey in Florida should no longer be a foreign one to sports fans – the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning have been in the league for several decades with their respective successes in the NHL. The ECHL also has several Florida teams, including the Orlando Solar Bears.
In October, 2017 it was announced that the Colorado Eagles would become the 31st AHL team beginning with the 2018-2019 hockey season. Advancing leagues is not new to the Colorado Eagles. They began play in the now defunct CHL (Central Hockey League) in 2003. The team transitioned to the ECHL (the “double A” league of hockey) at the conclusion of the 2010-2011 season. And next season, they’ll advance again to the AHL (American Hockey League), the “triple A” league of ice hockey in North America.
