When you think of classic hockey barns, the Hersheypark Arena has to come to mind. The former home of the Hershey Bears is still in great shape for all levels of hockey and is still a stunning venue to witness a game of hockey.
St. Olaf College’s dreams of having an on-campus ice area are set to become a reality thanks to a fund-raising milestone for the college. The private college in Minnesota is now set to begin construction on a indoor ice arena after its $6 million funding threshold to initiate construction was crossed. Building of the arena will begin this winter with The Boldt Company set to be the builder. Construction is expected to be completed by 2019. More than 125 alumni, parents, and friends of the college have donated an excess of $4.5 million in capital gifts and pledges, with another $1.5 million coming from the college itself. The school will also continue to fundraise the rest of the $8 million that is part of its $200 million For the Hill and Beyond campaign.
