In press conferences today, the National Lacrosse League announced that Halifax, NS is gaining a franchise and that a new expansion franchise will be forming in Rochester, NY.
It can fairly be said that the Okotoks Dawgs are the crown jewel of the Western Major Baseball League. After spending a few years in Calgary (and earning a league championship in 2004), they opened their doors in Okotoks in 2007 and have been among the league leaders in attendance and wins ever since.

Calgary, AB will be home to one of the founding franchises in the newly minted Canadian Premier League, a soccer league devised to be “for Canadians, by Canadians.” Calgary’s franchise will be called Cavalry FC, in honour of the region’s rich military history. They will play at the Spruce Meadows equestrian complex in a soccer-specific stadium to be built between now and the start of the league’s inaugural season in the spring of 2019.
