Renovations Coming to Ashford University Field

Much of the charm of attending a Clinton LumberKings game at Ashford University Field is the simple features of the stadium. It’s all about baseball at the Clinton ballpark with its old-fashioned bleacher seating (except for the first three rows), wall advertisements, and light standards. The only thing it seems the stadium truly lacks is a video board where fans can see more than a simple line score and balls, strikes, and outs.

Wells Fargo Arena is the biggest of three different arenas that comprise the Iowa Events Center. Opened in 2005, Wells Fargo Arena is located on the banks of the Des Moines River. The arena is a multi-purpose venue and home to three sports teams as well as concerts and other events throughout the year. Wells Fargo Arena replaced Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium as the main sporting and concert venue in the Des Moines area.

You might not know the name Rick Hader, but if you are a baseball fan, you’ve probably seen him at least once. He entertained innumerable fans with his character–the nerd who thought he was hip–Myron Noodleman. Sadly, Hader lost his battle with sinus cancer on Wednesday.

Modern Woodmen Park opened in 1931 as Municipal Stadium. The stadium seats 4,024 and can hold much more with a large number of open seating bleachers, a few grass berms, and eight group areas that are mostly standing room only. It sits on the banks of the Mississippi River in Davenport, Iowa and is the home stadium for the Quad Cities River Bandits, of the Midwest League.
