Throughout the 2018 season the Oakland Athletics have celebrated their 50th anniversary in Oakland with various celebrations at The Oakland Coliseum and throughout Oakland. One of the celebrations taking place throughout the 2018 season is Stomper In The Town. Stomper is the A’s lovable elephant of a mascot with statues located throughout Oakland, fifty to be exact in honor of the teams 50th anniversary. Each of the six-foot tall statues features different themed designs and works of art created by fans and various local artists,  including the featured MC Stomper, paying tribute to the famous rapper and onetime batboy of the A’s.

Prior to calling Petco Park home, the Padres played in Mission Valley from 1969-2003 in Qualcomm Stadium. During that stretch, the Padres would win three National League West titles and two National League pennants. Petco Park officially opened on April 8, 2004. In spite of several changes in the playing field to help assist productivity in offensive numbers, Petco Park still remains pitcher friendly.
