Walter Brown Arena holds a storied place in college hockey’s annals, and is worth a visit by any dedicated hockey fan. While the men’s program may have outgrown this facility, it is great to see this old barn live on as home to the women’s team.
Paul Scherer Memorial Stadium in Richmond, TX opened on August 27, 2026, and serves as a home field for local high school football programs, including the Terry Rangers. The facility was built right next to Gene Tomas High School, and allows the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) to split games between the new venue and Traylor Memorial Stadium, the Rangers' prior home venue.
The Superdome opened on August 3, 1975, becoming the new home of the New Orleans Saints, who previously played Uptown at Tulane Stadium. At the time it was considered one of the most advanced sports facilities in the world, featuring a massive unobstructed interior capable of accommodating everything from football and basketball to baseball and concerts.
The Meltzer Center is a fine new home for American Eagles volleyball. Although it is a significant downsizing compared to Bender Arena, that is actually a good thing as it is a much more appropriate size. Giving the volleyball team its own home has other benefits as well, as this feels like a volleyball arena, not a basketball arena where the volleyball team are second class citizens.
